The June Collection: Inspired by the Kashmir Great Lakes

The June collection was born from one of my favourite journeys - the Kashmir Great Lakes trek.

Walking through the valleys, alpine meadows and rugged mountain trails, I found myself drawn to the quiet beauty of the landscape: the muted greens, earthy browns, weathered textures, wildflowers and the deep colours of the mountains as daylight faded.

I wanted to translate those memories into ceramic - creating a collection that feels earthy, refined and deeply connected to the landscape.

The colour palette moves through sage green, white, brown and rust, with each shade chosen to evoke a different part of the journey.

For the Phoolika collection, I introduced brown ceramic mugs adorned with delicate floral motifs, alongside a sage green ceramic vase with hand-painted florals. These pieces capture the softer side of Kashmir - wildflowers growing quietly across open meadows.

The Vanaya collection features Chinar leaf ceramic mugs, inspired by one of Kashmir's most distinctive botanical motifs, and brown-and-white ceramic mugs depicting apple orchards; a nod to the warmth and familiarity of the valley's countryside.

For something more tactile, I created raw-textured campsite ceramic mugs, embracing the natural irregularities and rugged character of the mountains. Their surface is intentionally understated, reminiscent of weathered rocks, earth and the feeling of being outdoors.

Some of the most atmospheric pieces are the ceramic mugs inspired by the moments after sunset. White sheep wander among green landscapes and delicate white wildflowers, while the rust and green mountain mugs bring to mind the mountains beneath a deepening night sky.

Every piece in the collection is individually made and finished by hand. From shaping the clay to adding each botanical, landscape or mountain detail, the process is deliberately slow. The subtle variations in texture, form and decoration are not imperfections, they are part of the character of handmade ceramic.

This collection isn't simply inspired by what I saw during the Kashmir Great Lakes trek. It is inspired by how the landscape felt - expansive, quiet, earthy and wonderfully untouched.

The June collection is my way of preserving a little of that journey in ceramic: pieces made to bring the warmth, textures and quiet beauty of the mountains into everyday spaces.
