The maker behind Crafts by Charu

At Crafts by Charu, I create handmade ceramics inspired by nature, travel and the quiet details of the landscapes around us.

Made in my home studio in Ahmedabad, each piece is thoughtfully designed and handcrafted in small batches. I work with earthy tones and intricate surface details to create functional objects that feel both timeless and personal.

From everyday tableware to decorative pieces, my work is made to be used, enjoyed and lived with not simply displayed.

Handmade ceramics, shaped by nature and made for everyday moments.

My Story

I'm an ex-IT professional who discovered pottery while searching for a creative path I could build into a meaningful business. I enrolled in a pottery course to explore the craft and understand whether it was something I could truly dedicate myself to. Along the way, I fell in love with the process of working with clay and knew this was the path I wanted to pursue.

Today, I create from my home pottery studio in Ahmedabad, where every piece is thoughtfully handmade in small batches. My work is deeply inspired by nature-especially the mountains, forests, wildflowers, and quiet landscapes that have stayed with me through my travels. These memories find their way into my ceramics through soft earthy tones, hand-carved details, and organic forms.

Each mug, bowl, vase, and piece of tableware is shaped slowly by hand using stoneware clay, embracing the beauty of natural imperfections. I believe handmade pottery brings warmth, intention, and a sense of connection to everyday rituals.

Thank you for being here and for supporting handmade. I hope my work finds a place in your home and becomes part of your everyday moments for years to come.

Why I Make My Own Clay

Each piece begins long before it reaches the wheel.I formulate my own terracotta-based clay body, carefully blending raw materials to achieve a distinctive speckled surface after firing. This intentional process allows me to control not just the form, but the very character of the material itself making every piece quietly unique.
