Inspired by the iconic Chinar trees of Kashmir, this handmade mug celebrates the beauty of autumn leaves through the wax resist technique.
Each mug is wheel-thrown and decorated with hand-painted Chinar leaves using wax. During glazing, the wax resists the glaze, leaving the leaf motifs unglazed and revealing the natural clay beneath. The contrast between the raw clay leaves and the soft sage green exterior glaze highlights the intricate shapes of the Chinar foliage. The interior is finished with a clear glaze for a smooth finish.
Fired in an electric kiln and designed for everyday use, this mug brings a touch of the Kashmiri landscape to your daily rituals. As each piece is individually handmade, slight variations in form and pattern make every mug unique.
