The Piece You See Isn't the First One I Made

When you see a finished ceramic piece on my website, you're seeing the final version, not the many attempts that came before it.

Every new design begins with an idea, but turning that idea into a functional, beautiful piece takes time. I experiment with different heights, widths, proportions, and capacities until the form feels just right in both the hand and the eye.

Some pieces are too tall. Some feel too heavy. Others warp in the kiln, develop small cracks, or simply don't have the balance I imagined.

Those pieces never make it to the shop.

Instead, they become part of the learning process. Every "failed" piece teaches me something, how the clay behaves, how much it shrinks during firing, how a handle feels in your hand, or how a glaze settles over a carved design.

Only after many adjustments do I arrive at a piece that I'm proud to share.

So when you bring home a handmade ceramic from my studio, you're holding more than the final result. You're holding the hours of testing, the lessons from the pieces that didn't make it, and the quiet persistence that helped shape the one that did.

That's one of the beautiful things about handmade, every finished piece carries the story of all the ones that came before it.
